Abelia ‘Kaleidoscope’ is aptly named for its striking, colorful foliage that changes with the seasons from golden-yellow to orange-red. The variegated leaves have dark green centers surrounded by yellow edges that change from lime-green, to golden-yellow, to orange-red. Full sun brings out the most vibrant leaf colors. Thought to be the longest-blooming of all the Abelias, profuse pale pink buds open to white tubular flowers summer through fall. This easy growing, dense compact shrub with red stems is tolerant of frost, drought, and heat. The foliage is tough and does not scorch or burn in the hottest of weather. Versatile and spectacular when planted in containers, as formal or informal low hedge, as an accent plant, or in mass plantings for dramatic color year-round.
