Japanese Zelkova (Zelkova serrata) is a deciduous tree most commonly referred to as a Japanese zelkova. It is a medium to large tree, typically growing upward-branching, vase-shaped crown. Native to Japan, Taiwan and eastern China, noted for its graceful shape, clean foliage, attractive bark and resistance to Dutch elm disease. Flowers give way to oblong medium green leaves with coarse, ciliate marginal teeth, Fall color is variable, ranging from undistinguished yellow to attractive shades of yellow-orange to red-brown.
Plant in full sun to partial shade, in well drained loamy soils.
